The History of The Lighthouse

Our roots run deep in Northern California’s maritime past.

Built in 1909 to aid ship navigation near Mare Island—the first U.S. Navy base on the West Coast—the Carquinez Strait Lighthouse originally stood over a mile offshore, guiding vessels where the Napa River meets the Carquinez Strait.

After decades of service, it was decommissioned in 1951 and relocated to its current home near Glen Cove Marina in 1955. While the original tower was lost in the move, much of the structure remains beautifully preserved.

Lovingly restored and family-owned, The Lighthouse now shines as a modern coastal event venue and overnight retreat—honoring its storied past while welcoming new memories by the water.
