COUPLE'S SPOTLIGHT: Deborah + Daniel

Happy 2017 everyone! We are gearing up for the new wedding season, which means more awesome wedding couple's to introduce! And who better to kick things off than our first 2017 #LHCouple - Deborah and Daniel!

What can we say? These two lovebirds have been an absolute pleasure to work with. As our very first luxury wedding client's, they've made this whole process so easy for us not only by being so organized and on top of everything (they planned their wedding in less than 6 months), but by being so upbeat, patient, and fun-loving every time we meet with them (despite how stressful and challenging the wedding planning process can get)!

How did you and Daniel meet?

(By Deborah)

We are both from San Diego but never knew each other down there. We both moved to San Francisco in 2011. A few months after we had both moved to the bay, a mutual friend came up to visit Daniel. She reached out to me and asked if I wanted to meet up with them. I told them to meet me at my neighborhood sports bar and that's how we met!

What's the proposal story?

Daniel is the Beverage Director of Pagan Idol, a tiki bar in San Francisco. I got to tag along on his work trip to France where he was touring rum and cognac distilleries. On a free day, we walked around Paris and then went to sit in the park and share a bottle of rose. He proposed in front of the Eiffel Tower.

What made you decide to book The Lighthouse for your big day?

We met in a sports bar in the Sunset District in SF and dated on and off for about 3 years. We fell in love and decided that we wanted to have a life together while I was living on a sailing yacht docked at the Emeryville Marina. We both loved the ambiance and charm of the Marina in Emeryville and looked into having our wedding somewhere around there, but nothing was perfect. When I found the Lighthouse at Glen Cove Marina it was everything we wanted out of a wedding venue! I was actually googling a different venue when I stumbled upon the Lighthouse's website. I knew instantly that it would make the perfect backdrop for the one of the most important days of our lives!

What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?

We're excited to become husband and wife, but we're also looking forward to seeing everybody! We're both so busy, he runs a bar and I run a boutique, and we rarely have time for friends and family, especially those who don't live in the Bay Area. We can't wait to have so many people we love all in one place!

In less than a month (more like 3 and a half weeks!!!) we get to witness the union of this beautiful couple and we could not be more excited to be part of their special day!

The Lighthouse Celebrates TWO!

THE LIGHTHOUSE: 2nd Anniversary

On June 12, 2014, after two years of renovations, The Lighthouse officially opened its doors. Surrounded by city officials, local vendors, friends, and family, we cut the ribbon and dove right in.

Since that wonderful evening, we've had the extreme privilege of bearing witness to several dozen wedding ceremonies, engagement parties, baby showers, anniversaries, graduations, and even a handful of memorial services. To be entrusted as the backdrop for SO many momentous occasions, and to know we'll forever be intertwined in the history of so many lives, is not something we take lightly. We take pride in what we do, and we appreciate our amazing clients, not only for choosing to join our Lighthouse family, but for being the amazing, down-to-earth people that truly make our job enjoyable.

Last year, our One-Year Anniversary was coupled with a celebration for winning "Marina of the Year". Out of all of the "small" marinas in the nation--The Glen Cove Marina ranked number one. We surely couldn't have accomplished this without the support of all of our clients and vendor friends. Because not only have we had the privilege of working with the best clients around, we've also established some amazing connections and relationships with the most incredible vendors. The support, encouragement, and kindness we've been shown has been overwhelming.

We'll soon be rolling out our "Vendor Spotlight" feature on the LH Blog (along with several other features to help spruce things up around here), so you'll get to know some of these incredibly talented Bay Area event professionals soon enough.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for making these past two years in business so wonderful--we look forward to infinite more!

Happy Saturday! We are very excited to introduce you to another one of our lovely Lighthouse Couples! These two were engaged at a lighthouse (I mean, c'mon, I can hardly think of a more fitting engagement story ;)) and will be married here at the venue this September. Read below for more about these two and how they decided The Lighthouse at Glen Cove Marina was the right venue for them!

1) How did you and your fiancé meet? :

Jason and I met online. worked for us!

2) What's the proposal story?:

Jason took me on a surprise trip to East Brothers Light Station where we had a delicious dinner. He suggested that we watch the sunset from the top of the lighthouse, and I thought that was a great idea. While we were at the top of the lighthouse, watching the sunset, he got on one knee and asked me to marry him. I think I had a mini heart attack, but as soon as I could speak I said "YES!". It was the most romantic proposal….

3) What made you decide to book The Lighthouse for your big day?:

We live locally and knew that there was a marina in Vallejo, so we decided to check out the area for wedding ideas. The moment that we discovered The Lighthouse there was no question that we wanted to get married there, especially since we got engaged at a lighthouse. We could envision a serene ceremony on the lawn and having a fun celebration in the banquet room; all at one location. The Lighthouse amenities meet all of our needs and make for easy planning. We think we've made the best wedding decision in booking at The Lighthouse.

4) What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?:

We are excited to get married first and foremost. We look forward to having family and friends witness one of the most important events in our lives. We really feel that The Lighthouse has great energy for celebrating this occasion. We just can't wait see the people we love happy, eating, and dancing at this beautiful place!

We are so looking forward to it too!

Stay tuned for our next Couple's Spotlight next week :)
