Hello there!

My name is Marie Masa and I am the Director of Sales + Events here at the amazing Lighthouse at the Glen Cove Marina. I am likely the person you will be working with during your planning process, so I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. 

I first jumped into the world of events while planning my own wedding. Freshly out of college, having studied Creative Writing and Spanish, I jumped into…sales. Not a predictable career move, but I loved interacting with people. After a couple of years in that field, I became engaged to my now-husband and we started planning our own wedding. It was during that time that I unearthed an inescapable passion for planning events. I also had the wonderful opportunity to serve as a featured blogger for the popular site Weddingbee, wherein I blogged about my wedding plans, day-in and day-out. This helped fulfill two passions of mine—writing and event planning.

Three weeks after our wedding, needing to fill that planning void, I started working at a high volume wedding and banquet facility. During my time there, I assisted with the planning and execution of more than 200 weddings (and countless more special events) and met and formed bonds with all of my amazing clients. I cried each and every time I sent a bride (or groom!) down the aisle. Seeking something a bit closer to my home, I met with the owner of The Lighthouse and immediately fell in love with this place. I knew I had to be a part it and thankfully the feeling was mutual.

The Lighthouse—this beautiful three-story building was originally built in 1910. At that time, it served as an actual lighthouse. In fact, it was the first lighthouse to mark the entrance to the Carquinez Strait. During this period, however, the building was located at the southern end of Mare Island.  In 1955, after the building was decommissioned, the light-emitting beacon itself was removed and the house was moved two miles down the strait to its current home here at the scenic Glen Cove Marina.

The current owner bought the marina about seven years ago and has put extensive time, money, heart, and soul into its renovations. The bottom floor of the building has been remodeled into a gorgeous waterfront banquet room capable of seating up to a maximum of 140 guests (195 cocktail style) and the building sits between two waterside lawns. The top two floors (The Inn) consist of three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, formal dining room, living room and loft.

I sit in the Bridal Loft often and imagine the excitement these walls will see—the champagne, the make-up, the dresses, tuxes, tears and laughter. We are on the precipice of something amazing—the beginning days of a venue that will serve as the setting for so many people’s “best-day-ever”. I can hardly wait!
