March has come to be one of our busiest wedding months, and we couldn't be more excited to share another Lighthouse couple with you all! Tomorrow, these best friends become one, and today, we share their sweet love story, as told by Bambi!

How did you and Chad Meet?

(By Bambi)

Chad & I met when he was supporting himself through art school as a school bus driver & I was a teacher at one of the schools on his route. We would make casual small talk until one day I gave him my business card with my personal number written on it & told him, "you should call me." The rest is history.

What's the proposal story?

On one of our regular Thursday night dates, Chad told me to meet him in Walnut Creek at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. This was quite a bit fancier than our normal pizza dates. We met on the roof of a nearby parking garage and walked to the restaurant. I was suspicious but each course came & nothing happened. I thought maybe he was going to propose at dessert, but the plate came with no hoopla. So, when we walked back to our cars on the rooftop I thought nothing of it when he told me to look over the edge at the sidewalk. When I turned back to him, he was on bended knee & asked me to marry him. I began to cry but said yes.

What made you decide to book The Lighthouse for your big day?

Chad & I were determined to plan our wedding using local & small businesses. We value the community & want to give our money back where it it is needed, rather than book our wedding with a hotel chain or winery. A quick search for local venues in Vallejo provided this beautiful location.

What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?

Marrying my best friend. & maybe the first dance as husband & wife because I love our song!

We are so happy that Bambi & Chad decided to host their special day at our gorgeous venue! Here's to a lifetime of happiness!

COUPLE'S SPOTLIGHT: MICKEY + MIKEY

COUPLE'S SPOTLIGHT: MICKEY + MIKEY

It's been such a busy time here at The Lighthouse as we prep for The Open House on March 12th, but not too busy to remember to share the story of #LHCouple Mickey + Mikey!

When I first met Mickey and Mikey during their tour, they were THE sweetest couple ever!!! I remember how excited Mickey was, and how she literally had everything already planned out before even booking with us! She loved everything about the gorgeous venue, and, since day one, the feeling was mutual! That is to say, we LOVE THEM! Working with the pair, we got to see how bubbly, organized, and visually talented Mickey is, and how caring, relaxed, and supportive Mikey is, and there's no doubt that the two make the perfect couple!

Tomorrow, we witness their fateful union, but today, we share below the story of how they came to be.

How did you and Mikey Meet?

(By Mickey)

Mikey and I met in high school! He's two grades above me. During his senior year / my sophomore year, I noticed him walk past me a couple times and I thought he was really cute. ;) I then proceeded to "stalk" him around the high school, until I finally gathered enough confidence to invite him to hang out! We became friends but didn't start dating until December 13, 2009.

What's the proposal story?

During Independence Day weekend of 2016, Mikey and I headed to Sacramento, CA to spend time with my family. My sister made plans with me for that Saturday morning to wake up early, grab some coffee at a swanky coffee shop, and walk around the local farmer's market to shop and take pictures (basically all my favorite things to do). When we got to the coffee shop, we ordered our drinks and sat outside on their shaded patio. As I proceeded to being shoving a blueberry scone in my mouth, Mikey tells me to put on a set of headphones and watch a YouTube video. Thinking that it's probably a video about pugs, I keep eating... but turns out, it's a video of Mikey recording a message to me! I won't tell you what the message said, but basically, once the video was over, Mikey bent down on one knee! I tried to finish swallowing my mouthful of scone and then I said "yes!" :) Meanwhile, my sister, brother-in-law, and little cousin were all there watching, smiling, and taking pictures of the moment!

What made you decide to book The Lighthouse for your big day?

I was immediately attracted to the environment and lighting at The Lighthouse! I spent sooooo much time researching venues in the San Francisco Bay Area to no avail! I wasn't satisfied with any venue. When I stumbled upon the Lighthouse, I was in awe about how much the venue suited my particular taste! Once I reached out, I found out that The Lighthouse team was incredibly accommodating, and feature so many amenities that I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get married here. Mikey and I absolutely love the area and can't wait for the big day.

What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?

I'm most looking forward to all of our families being together in the same room for the FIRST TIME EVER. Even though Mikey and I have been together for 7 years, many of our family members have never met, including our parents. We're looking forward to spending this time with all of our loved ones together, as a newly merged family.

We couldn't be more excited to be part of this couple's special day, and see their vision come to life!

COUPLE'S SPOTLIGHT: Janelle and Ozzy

COUPLE'S SPOTLIGHT: JANELLE AND OZZY

Janelle and Ozzy were one of the first LH Couples I met when I started working here back in March. They had booked with us in August of 2015, and being that they were a little more familiar with The Lighthouse than I was at the time (given I was still getting my feet wet with my new job), I can’t say I wasn’t nervous to initially meet them. But when I finally did, they were just THE sweetest couple! They were both so patient, light-hearted and funny, and were always welcoming with smiles and all. I immediately gravitated to their warmth and felt no intimidation whatsoever.

When I received O+J’s Couple’s Spotlight responses, I wasn’t surprised at how much love there was in Janelle’s words. You can just sense the connection between the two of them. I couldn’t help but laugh and at the same time want to cry! Read on and you’ll see why (as if the beautiful photos aren't enough)!

1) How did you and Ozzy meet?

(By Janelle)

Our story is unique. Yes, it began in the typical manner where we met through a mutual friend. But that very first night we met was incredibly different, special if you will. That night sparks flew. No, no, not the lovey, dovey "I'm madly in love with you" kind of sparks. These were friendship sparks, like immediately hit it off, let's hang out tomorrow and the next weekend and the weekend after that kind of sparks. Our love story starts there, as true best friends. We always found ourselves wanting to be in each other’s company. We became each other's horror film watching-taco eating-bar hopping-adventure seeking companions. As our relationship developed, I realized that Ozzy and I have been each other's backbone throughout our entire relationship; supportive, encouraging and just absolutely amazing friends and partners in life. I know everyone's love story is different but I think our love story is special.

2) What's the proposal story?

Can I just say nervous! I had a gut feeling it was coming. He was acting kind of weird, which usually doesn't surprise me :) but my instincts told me he was nervous, which in turn made me nervous! The day started out with Ozzy surprising me with a suite at my favorite hotel. So, off we go to some unknown adventure. I had no idea what to expect. Were we just going to have a quiet night in and order room service and relax all day? Was I going to walk in and find Robin Thicke on a grand piano with Ozzy on one knee? I mean, the possibilities were endless!

Unfortunately, Robin Thicke is not a part of this fairytale but it was indeed a beautiful day. We had an amazing lunch at the pier in San Francisco. Interesting side note, do not eat food near San Francisco seagulls, they very well can mug you of your food. I speak of personal experience. So, after we unintentionally fed the seagulls our $20 shrimp from the grotto, we had to have lunch in a restaurant that consisted of a roof and doors. Once we returned to our hotel suite, as I was getting ready for dinner, Ozzy was secretly prepping the living room. I had no idea what I was about to walk into....

I walked out to John Legend playing in the background (come on, no love story is complete without a John Legend cameo) and chocolate covered strawberries on the table with bubbly in Ozzy's hand. I was completely taken aback. I thought, “note to self:  buy champagne and strawberries.” And there it happened.... He knelt on one knee and said, “I have something to ask.” Of course I responded with, "I think I'll start with a strawberry!" I thought he was going to ask if I wanted strawberries or champagne first! I mentioned that I was nervous, right?

Once we got over that moment of confusion, he popped the long awaited question. This time I appropriately answered yes! The day was absolutely perfect and I couldn't imagine it to be any other way, hiccups and all.

3) What made you decide to book The Lighthouse for your big day?

One word - Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful, I had to make it a two-word response! The Lighthouse was everything we were looking for and then some. It completely captured the vision that we had in mind. It was a complete bonus to work with the amazing staff, who have been so incredibly helpful along the way. We are madly in love with The Lighthouse.

4) What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?

Simply put, I can't wait to call Ozzy my husband. Everything else on that day is an added bonus.

Beautifully said, Janelle! And we certainly can't wait to see your (and Ozzy's) big day unfold!
